Definitely a repeat customer. I ordered my crested gecko for sale Dec 21st. Of course I wasn’t expecting it for Christmas but I wasn’t expecting the amazing customer service either. Exotic reptiles Shop cares about their reptiles and that’s amazing. Someone called me every few days to update me on the shipping process. They took every precaution from holiday traffic to winter weather to assure I got a live energetic baby gecko in this weather at this time of year and it worked. It arrived today, safe and sound. The heat pack was still warm.

I received my two baby tangerine leopard geckos in the mail. I was very nervous as not a lot of people were shipping. However, the way my babies were packed and shipped was excellent. They arrived safe and sound. They don’t even appear to be too stressed. And can I just say that they are the cutest Leo’s ever and their color is outstanding. More vivid then I had even expected or could have hoped for. I will definitely be purchasing more reptiles for sale from them. 5 stars isn’t enough.

Very Happy with my baby leopard gecko
I received a mack super snow leopard Gecko Juvenile from Exotic reptiles Shop and he came in wonderful health the next day and is the cutest little guy, I also love that you can contact them anytime and get information regarding your new pet and they respond quickly and are more than willing to offer great customer service! I looked all over the net to find a good leopard gecko breeder and though there were many leopard geckos for sale online, I could tell that they were selling the cheaper pet smart leopard gecko stuff and am sooooo glad I went with cbreptile!

Exotic reptiles Shop is AWESOME. no matter what questions I have they are always helpful to respond quickly. We purchased a well started box turtle for sale a couple of months ago, and he is doing great. We went with a well started baby eastern box turtle and are happy we did! We just bought him “turtle friend” for Christmas which arrived this morning and is now hiding safely so my children do not see until Christmas morning. CB mangrove monitor
Ordered a CB mangrove monitor Sunday evening. Received an email immediately saying it would ship Monday. Arrived Tuesday with a slight delay from UPS, no biggie. They responded to my emails quickly.

I Absolutely Love my new Pandinus Viatoris, cave clawed scorpions. They are big bulky and full of energy upon arrival. Ate and drank within 30 minutes and then had a nap, they were all over after that. Arrived well packed and on time.

A head start
I just order 3 iguanas from backwater reptiles. 2 females and a male all was very beautiful & health and arrived on the exact time that was given. I order them to started breeding my own reptiles i pick a cb red female and two 3-4 feet green. But the best part is my green female has already laid a clutch of eggs 1 of the best decision ever.

My experience with Exotic reptiles was great the snake i order was unfortunately not in stock they emailed me that it wasnt and quickly they emailed me saying that more of the type of color snake was in stock just a different morph. I got my snake in a day after they emailed me it was set to ship that day, the next day i received her well alive and non-aggressive shes a baby but she is a snake. 5 stars all the way definitely a great site to order all your reptiles needs!

I have purchased from backwater several times and spent around 4,000 dollars it seems like two different companies here. I noticed that they ship from Florida and Texas when I received my reptiles from Florida they have been abused and not cared for properly. When they come from Texas they are just opposite healthy packaged well and sexed accurately one thing that seems consistent is that getting someone on the phone is impossible but at least they haven’t stolen my money like some others:)

Flawless experience
After ordering a boa imperator from this company, I’m very confused by the slew of negative reviews. Every question I had was answered promptly, thoroughly, and very politely. The animal had a wonderful temperament and seemed perfectly healthy. Every aspect of my experience was as good or better than I’d hoped. It’s possible that some of their supplies aren’t so good, but my experience was excellent. I wasn’t given any incentive to write this review and I usually never leave reviews on my online purchases, but I was just genuinely really happy with this company’s work.

I was provided with great service, I ordered a Big Baby Red Uromastyx. He arrived in healthy condition with heat packs newspaper the inside of the box was very warm and well packaged. They even provided helpful information about having the reptile held at the shipping center because it was 39 degrees out today and the passing between multiple trucks could get pretty cold. He arrived right on schedule like the website says. I dont write reviews but I saw so many bad reviews I had to post this. From my experince this is a trust worthy site and I would buy again if I had to.

I had a little issue with fraud checks , but I really appreciate the extra measures they took to make sure it was me and not someone using a stolen card . Got a dead frog on Friday 80$ took a…
Got a dead frog on Friday 80$ took a picture of the obviously dead frog but they didn’t get back to me until Monday stating that they needed a picture of the frog on top of the shipping label. Refused to refund or send a new frog. They also sent the wrong type of frog on top of that.

A ++ Great place to do business with I’ve ordered multiple frogs from black water and every time the animals showed up alive and alert just this last time my mail carrier got delayed by eight hours I had a little hope the frog would be alive but he jumped out healthy as can be… would recommend anyone here 10/10/2021

Cumberland sliders
I bought 2 cumberland sliders and they are very happy after a week’s time. No problems with shipping and backwater reptiles has been responsive to my questions. My only recommendation is for some type of info sheet included in the shipment. The turtles arrived without anything else. An info sheet with tips and encouragement would be nice. One of the turtles was slow to respond and this is my first time taking care of a turtle. So, I was a bit worried in the first few days. An info sheet might have allayed those fears and doubts. Of course, there’s the website…but when you are in front of your aquarium, the website isn’t necessarily handy. All in all, we are very happy with our new pets!!

Wow, are my Southern Painted Turtle hatchlings perfect!??!! We are in love. It has been 4 days since they arrived. They got here when expected and were packaged with care. I was so shocked at how happy the turtles are. Now they are thriving in their new home. You can tell how wonderfully taken care of they were at birth. Picked up my beautiful baby Dalmatian…
Picked up my beautiful baby Dalmatian Crested Gecko this morning. Cutest thing ever, it shipped and got here right away. I had no problems doing business with this company and I’m looking forward to many more.
The only problem I had was at the FedEx center where I watched the guy tilt and shake my package, I had to proceed and tell him there was a live animal in there, after reading reviews after receiving my scaly friend, maybe it isn’t BlackWaters fault as to why some of these customers are receiving dead creatures, but the way the package is being handle at these distribution centers.
A big bold sign that says “live animal” on the packaging would hopefully reduce the risk of such fragile creatures being hurt or even killed.
Anyways thank you so much again, my kids are absolutely amazed by the little baby, and we can’t wait to watch it grow.

Just received my pink bellied side neck…
Just received my pink bellied side neck turtle today. Got here next day as advertised and in great health. It is very active and has a good appetite. Overall great experience.

I received my little Hermann

All I can say is…OH MY GOSH!!! Our Dwarf Smooth Front Caiman is the absolute cutest thing we have ever seen! This company is very professional as well. I order this reptile as a surprise gift for my 17 year old who lost his bearded dragon of 4 years due to passing away from stress on our move. Not only did they ensure that my purchase was legitimate because my mailing and billing address differed EXTREMELY, they wanted to make sure the home the reptile went to was up to par and kept safe. We had a little hiccup due to FedEx which was completely out of this companies control, but even with that he still arrived healthy as can be. I would HIGHLY recommended this business for your reptile wants and needs!

Purchased 2 red eye green frogs
Purchased 2 red eye green frogs. One was already dead when I received the order. Received a credit since I had the label and the dead frog THAT day. Second frog dies 4 days later. I do not have the smelly dead frog any longer as well as the box that I had to place the smelly dead frog on to take a picture. I was told that I should have kept the original dead frog in my freezer next to my waffles in order to get a refund for the second dead frog. I should have read the reviews before purchasing – 53% NEGATIVE! Animals are not healthy and most seem to arrive dead. What a waste of money and time with this terrible business – Buy local and save your self the grief of dealing with something like this!

I received my baby blue eye whites tree frog today and, although I almost passed out when I saw how teeny tiny she is, I couldn’t have been more pleased or happier. I have 4 other juvenile Dumpies and when I purchased them as “babies” (from a different company) they were 5x bigger than this little one. She’s tiny! I’ve named her Moxie because right out of the box she was strutting herself about her quarantine enclosure, hunting and didn’t ever seem to mind that she’d just been jostled about for several hours or that I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Although her color was a little darker when she arrived from traveling even that already improving. I’m so in love with her I can barely stand it!

I have made multiple orders with Exotic reptiles. Mostly feeder insects, always got well fed, live & hydrated bugs. So, I decided to order some leopard geckos. I got a beautiful mack snow and a chocolate albino, both arrived in a clearly labeled box, well packed and both geckos were perfectly healthy! Started eating & drinking that evening once they settled in. They even wrote me after I placed the order to tell me which day would be best to deliver on, because they checked the weather forecast. Hello. I recently ordered a baby musk turtle but they were out of stock. So instead I got a baby mud turtle. He came here, almost non-moving, and was most likely dead by the 2nd or 3rd day. They support a 7-day live guarantee, so I am wondering if I can get another turtle or at least get a refund?

Would use again!
I had a very good experience and would order from this company again. I would advise using caution ordering in the winter if you live in a cold state. Their “live arrival guarantee” is voided if your temperatures drop below 40 F, which is in the small text so people complaining in reviews just don’t know how to shop online. I did have multiple emails with customer service rescheduling my delivery due to winter storms and my own personal schedule, and they were always prompt and professional, and my animal arrived alive.

Very professional
Very professional, friendly communication and shipping was on point with their schedule. My baby Colombian rainbow boa came bright, healthy, and curious the next morning. Great experience would do business with them again. I work at a pet store and deal with getting shipped reptiles and this little girl was packaged very nicely with styrofoam and clumps of newspaper and of course she was in the cup with a lid with air holes and bedding in it. (Writing this mainly because I did see the negative reviews and was a tad worried, none of that happened to me though and I wanted to share.)

DOA frog
I place an order for 6 tree frogs and all but 1 came in dead. They said that it was “rare for DOA” and wanted to try the order again. I received another dead one in the replacement order and when I tried to send the photo for a refund they claimed I needed the dead frogs from 8 days ago to be included in the photo. I had disposed of those frogs after contacting them with pictures from the first time, as they started to smell. If they would’ve asked me to hold onto the first order of frogs I would’ve but I had no idea that it is “protocol”. Really upset, do not recommend.

Poor Breeders??
I’m not so sure that they back ground check their breeders. I paid $300 for my red tegu. Less than 1 1/2 yrs I found out he had a genetic disease from our vet. He passed away. The vet says he had it from birth! Not soo sure I will buy from these people again!!

I ordered a cane toad and a budgetts frog. They came to me fast but unfortunately the frog was dead when I got it but the cane toad was healthy and frisky!!
I advised the company asap about the frog’s demise and they wanted pictures of it which I had no problem doing. Any customer that’s honest will not hesitate to send pics if this company requests doa pics.
Once they had the pics they were very apologetic and refunded me the money for the frog. I didn’t get the shipping cost back and I didn’t expect to. It wasn’t there fault the frog didn’t make it.

My snake showed up withen 24 hrs of shipping but thata were the good service stopped. My snake out of the box was half tarded and couldnt close its mouth. With n a week it died durring its first shed, by that time it never closed its mouth. I e-mailed back water several times including pictures and they kept comming up with reasons why they couldnt send another snake or refund me. In the end they basically told me to go F myself. I have friends who own reptile stores all over but I wanted to try BackWaterReptiles against a couple of theirs advice. I read all the reviews and still gave them a shot. Mainly because they had a nice selection. Although some people may be expressing facts quantity over quality. But my experience went like most companies. Timely responses. They didn’t have what I wanted(which is ok business are not always tech savvy with updating websites) and over the course of 20 back and forth emails within the span of 2 hours to assist me. I would say the customer service was on point. I was not given a tracking number but my package arrived in a cooled fedex truck packed well and safe the very next morning. The snake looks amazing and just as described. But my purchase of the snake went well. I’m satisfied and I’m in Orlando,Fl.

I ordered a 3-ft Green iguana
I ordered a 3-ft Green iguana and it took a little while to get here because it was a holiday weekend. When it arrived it was a little freaked out because of the journey and when I opened the bag that it was in it shot out lightning fast went up the wall across the shelves and hid underneath my workbench… Knowing reptiles as I do I cranked up the AC in my shop and the next morning it was not moving so fast so I was able to catch it and put it in a cage no problems. After I put it in an outdoor cage and gave it food and water it was a happy camper! My cats came up checking it out. It inflated its body stuck out its do lap and rattled the cage violently, the cats jumped back about 2 ft and they have not messed with him since! All in all I am pleased with the purchase.

learned from this wild caught experience
I ordered from them to get a female uromastyx that I was planning to put in my hot greenhouse. The greenhouse does not work for plumeria so I turned it into a desert habitat instead! It can reach up to 80-90 most of the time, sometimes 100. Though I might put a heater in there for extra measures, anyways, I ordered her and she was very malnourished. She’s also very flighty and runs away if I go up to the cage. She has gotten used to me though overtime, but I still can’t really handle her because she tried to jump out of my hand. I presume she’s wild caught in addition to the fact she barely eats. After that I saw many people complaining of the same things! Frankie (the lizard) is doing a bit better now, still somewhat small, now that I know I’m never buying from them again. Do not make the same mistake I did.

Gift for my Brother
I ordered a gift for my brother (a Greenbottle Blue tarantula sling) through Backwater Reptiles and I couldn’t have been more pleased with how things turned out! They worked with me on getting the little Miss/Mr to Phoenix even though I’m in Chicago, and were very responsive throughout the entire process. As for the little buddy, he/she arrived safely (and a few hours early I’ll add) and is doing great! My brother was ecstatic and I’m a proud Auntie! I will absolutely be doing business with them in the future. The only thing I didn’t care for was that they don’t have a dedicated phone line, and when you call it says the mailbox is full. However, like I said before, they answered every email very promptly (less than an hour) and were very helpful thought. They have a wonderful staff, special thanks to Sam, Katherine and Abbey!!!

I got My leopard gecko
I got My leopard gecko. When she arrived (I’ve had her for about a month now). she was perfectly fine. the box was well put together very well. but I tried feeding her a few days of having her, and that was the only time she actually ate. and now she isn’t eating any of her worms and crickets. i don’t know if the feed her live or not bc they don’t tell you. so now I’m stuck with trying to figure things out. I’m also having troubles trying to handle her. she just hisses and acts like she was abused when being handled and I have a feeling that she was just hatched and set her bc she was tiny. I don’t recommend getting from here. unless you know how to feed the reptiles when they refuse to eat anything. Iv tried emailing them multiple times asking if they feed there reptiles live worms and crickets. still no response this is a sick joke.

Backwater Reptiles
I have seen both good and bad reviews, and I’m shocked at the bad ones. This business is spot on, they answered every single email I sent to them (and I sent a lot, with questions, etc., etc.) I over paid, they refunded my money immediately. They were very helpful with the shipping process, and I received 3 healthy CB juvenile turtles. It was actually easier than purchasing at a pet store (Backwater has a HUGE selection of species) and way better than a reptile show were the reptiles are handled and ogled at by everyone, but no-one buys. I will definitely be a returning customer, my first experience was fantastic.
Maybe all the bad reviews are from beginner reptile owners, or they think buying a reptile or arachnid is like ordering take out pizza. Its NOT that simple and Backwater takes care of all the little details.

Very timely shipping made it possible.
Temperatures have been very low in CO making shipping difficult. But Backwater Reptiles makes it clear and easy to target specific shipping dates, which was great when a one day weather window finally opened that made it safe for our turtle.
He arrived in an insulated box, still plenty warm and surrounded by moist fluffy stuff in the container to keep him cushy. They packed him like I would have packed him, and I’m picky. First meal was a smaller bladder snail in his tank that made a slight error in path, maybe 15 minutes after being unboxed, that’s a fairly relaxed turtle in my book to be interested in food so quick. Very pleased.
My only nitpick is that as the turtle was a Captive Bred specimen, it would have been nice to have had some sort of certificate or the ilk listing a hatch date. However this was not promised or hinted at, more of a suggestion. I received what I asked for, and in excellent condition. 5/5

Red leatherback baby bearded…
Ordered red leatherback baby bearded dragon about 3 weeks ago. Lizard arrived in a tiny box, inside a deli cup with just a paper towel. No insulation. No markers on the box informing post office that it contained a live animal. Who knows how much she got banged around. She refused to eat the first week we had her, was starting to lose hope but switched her diet and saw immediate improvement though she seems stunted and isn’t growing nearly as fast as our other juvenile male. She doesn’t seem to understand the concept of a hide and sleeps on top of the log in her enclosure and is very clingy, is it possible to ship them too young? She also seems to want to be back inside of a cup and I have a strong suspicion that she was kept in one even before we got her. I would avoid ordering from this company. They claim ethical standards yet they sell silkies with no warnings to new reptile owners. Would be much better off finding a local reputable breeder.

Holy crap! I have no idea how so many people are claiming to have had bad experiences with this business. I have bought 4 (count them) 4 tarantulas (all separate transactions) and never had an issue. I even tried to buy a 5th and they ran out so the immediately contacted me to let me know if I wanted a replacement. Then on another occasion I ordered a T of a certain size but the ran out and again emailed me to see if I wanted a different size. I have had very good experiences with them. Yes they can take awhile to respond sometimes but I have never not gotten a response, and every order that has been mailed to me has arrived perfectly healthy. I just received a beautiful adult Mexican Redknee Tarantula today as a matter of fact. The importance of adding this is, it is very cold where I live right now. I was concerned it might die in transit, but when I opened the box, they were smart enough to have added a heat pack to keep her nice and comfy. THANK YOU!
I’ve even bought several feeder insects that arrived on time alive and healthy with FREE SHIPPING! I have dealt with other places in addition to them but they’ve been the best so far. I will definitely be doing most if not all my buying from them in the future. These negative reviews are quite shocking to me since I have never had an issue. (Probably over sensitive, demanding a$$hole types.)
